Chris Stapleton was the huge winner at the 55th Country Music Association Awards, held Wednesday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and hosted by Luke Bryan.
Heading into the awards show, Eric Church and Stapleton had the most nominations, with the two musicians up for similar five awards: Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album, Single, and Song of the Year.
Following intently behind was singer Gabby Barrett, who was nominated for New Artist, Female Vocalist, Single, and Song of the Year (for “The Good Ones”). Blend engineer Jason Hall and maker Jay Joyce were likewise up for four awards.
