The date for Drake’s upcoming album, For All the Dogs, has been announced. It is connected to his first collection of poetry, Titles Ruin Everything: A Stream of Consciousness, which was published in June. It will be available on September 22. The cover art for Drake’s latest album, created by his son Adonis Graham, was debuted last month. The album For All the Dogs is the follow-up to Honestly, Nevermind from 2022 and Her Loss, his joint album with 21 Savage.
Promotional ads for Titles Ruin Everything ran in The New York Times and other publications on the day of the book’s release. They featured a QR code above a picture of two pups and the phrase “For all the dogs.” The website that was reached after scanning the QR code stated: “I made an album to go with the book. They say they miss the old Drake girl don’t tempt me. FOR ALL THE DOGS.
Drake did not give much of a lead-up to the release of Titles Ruin Everything, save than a quick tease in his radio programme last year. Together with longtime friend and songwriting collaborator Kenza Samir, who has worked on albums like Views and If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late, they co-wrote the 168-page anthology.
This summer, Drake spent his leisure time honing his freestyle flow and appearing in Young Thug’s “Oh U Went” video when he wasn’t spending $1 million on a ring made and worn by 2Pac. Pharrell Williams was also called out in “Meltdown,” a track on Travis Scott’s latest album, Utopia. In a song, Drake criticises the late Virgil Abloh’s former position as men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton, saying, “Man, fuck all that spinning the narrative shit/I melt down the chains that I bought from your boss/Give a fuck about all of that heritage shit/Since V not around the members done hung up the Louis/They not even wearing that shit.”
Honestly, Nevermind was Drake’s 14th full-length to reach the top 10 of the chart and his 11th record to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Her Loss enjoyed a similar level of success thanks to songs like “Jumbotron Shit Poppin.” A month later, that album debuted at No. 1. After printing numerous imitation magazines, Vogue sued Drake and 21 Savage for copyright violations; however, the lawsuit has already been resolved. This summer, the two of them will go on a joint North American tour in support of Her Loss.
Drake collaborated on songs with Popcaan (“We Caa Done”) and British rapper J Hus (“Who Told You”) between the release of Her Loss and his new album. He also released his own song, “Search & Rescue.” Together with Future and Tems, he won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Wait for U.”
