The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Ms. Lauryn Hill are scheduled to perform at today’s free achievement as part of the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park. On the schedule for the day are BTS members Jungkook, Anitta, and Megan Thee Stallion.
The concert begins at 4 p.m. ET, but if you can’t make it, you can watch the full day’s performances live on Prime Video. You may stream the Global Citizen Festival for nothing if you aren’t a member of Prime by starting a 30-day free trial.
The event and the initiatives that surround it have been planned to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly, which will take place in September in New York.
The annual massive event in Central Park hosted by Global Citizen comes soon after a similar-sized, internationally webcast concert in France called “Power Our Planet: Live in Paris,” which featured performances by Billie Eilish, Jon Batiste, H.E.R., Lenny Kravitz, Finneas, and Ben Harper in front of the Eiffel Tower. That performance was timed to coincide with the Summit for a New Financial Pact, another summit of world leaders, and to increase pressure for change.
Global Citizen is focusing on a number of issues as part of this event, including the global food and malnutrition crisis, the lack of equal access to family planning, education, and healthcare for women and adolescent girls worldwide, climate change, and the need to provide financial assistance to less developed countries as they deal with their own climate issues.
