Boxing schedule for 2023: Francis Ngannou vs. Tyson Fury and David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade are two upcoming boxing matches

Boxing had a fantastic year in 2023. The majority of the fights that fans have been clamouring for over the past several years have either already taken place or are expected to take place this year, with some of boxing’s top pound-for-pound talent putting on displays that show just how amazing they really are. The year 2023 has been the best for the sport in a long time, especially when you add a number of outstanding Fight of the Year contenders. Crossover fights continue to be lucrative affairs despite all the high-level action, and one of the biggest of the year takes place on October 28 when WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury squares off against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

Boxing’s first “megafight” of 2023 was won by Gervonta “Tank” Davis, who used a body blow to knock out Ryan Garcia in an April matchup between two of the sport’s brightest and well-liked young stars. In a tactical thriller in May, Devon Haney defeated Vasil Lomachenko to retain his title as undisputed lightweight champion. With Naoya Inoue beating Stephen Fulton in his debut at super bantamweight to earn two world titles and Terence Crawford thrashing Errol Spence Jr. to become the undisputed welterweight champion, July saw two more outstanding performances.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was the most recent top-tier pound-for-pound fighter to compete. To cap the month of September, Alvarez faced up against undisputed junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo to defend his super middleweight title. Alvarez won the unanimous decision with a knockdown, thus Charlo never had a chance.

Everything in October has been building up to Fury vs. Ngannou on 28 October in Saudi Arabia. To crown boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era, Fury has already committed to a fight against Oleksandr Usyk, the current WBA, WBO, and IBF champion. Depending on how much harm Ngannou causes, that battle will either take place in late 2023 or early 2024.

It should be noted that this is continually being updated with new information.
