Will Tracy’s political satire film The Regime, originally titled The Palace, is scheduled to be released worldwide on March 3, 2024. The new miniseries stars Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, and many other actors who have worked on several projects in the past. The result is a fascinating series and a reunion of seasoned talent.
“The Regime” will be Winslet’s third lead role in an HBO series, following “Mares of Easttown” and “Mildred Place.” In addition to Winslet and Grant, the series features a great cast and promises to be a fascinating and exciting show that’s more than just his six-episode miniseries.

Herbert Zubak, played by Matthias Schoenaerts
Matthias Schoenaerts, who made his breakthrough at the age of 13 with the film Daens, which was nominated for a Best Foreign Film Academy Award, will play Corporal Herbert Zubak in The Regime. Zubak is Elena’s bodyguard and only reliable confidant, as the teaser shows.
Nicholas, played by Guillaume Gallienne
Guillaume Gallienne, a multi-talented actor who was born in France and is well-known for having won two César Awards, will portray Elena’s French husband.
Agnes, played by Andrea Louise Riseborough
In the television series, Andrea Louise Riseborough, who gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher’s lead in The Long Walk to Finchley, will portray Agnes. Andrea is portrayed as Elena’s right-hand lady and the palace manager, handling everything from scheduling to household tasks.
Martha Plimpton as Judith Holt
Martha Plimpton, known for voicing Yelena in Frozen 2 and appearing in movies, TV series, and Broadway, will play Judith Hill. In this series, Judith is portrayed as the US Secretary of State who wants to protect the country’s interests.
Hugh Grant as the Opposition Leader
Hugh Grant, the celebrated actor best known for his roles in Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones’s Diary, and other films, will be portraying the head of the opposition. One of Elena’s main adversaries will be Hugh Grant’s character.

About the Regime
The show centers on Chancellor Elena Vernham, who spent the year isolating herself in her palace and becoming increasingly unstable and paranoid. Elena employs Herbert Zubak, a soldier who has been charged with war crimes.
Unexpectedly, Zubak ends up being her confidant. But as Zubak’s hold over Elena deepens, her desire for power increases and her power over her country starts to wane.
