Netflix will release a mobile game version of the indie hit “Hades” in March.
The streamer-only edition of the game goes live on iOS devices on March 19. Pre-registration opens on Tuesday at 9 a.m. PT.
Hades was released by Supergiant Games in 2020. It was originally released for macOS, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and later for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. More than 1 million copies were sold. The game received numerous awards and positive reviews across the industry.
Netflix adds ‘Hades’ to its lineup of over 80 mobile games available to subscribers. This includes exclusive rights to Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: Definitive Edition. The streamer says this helped it achieve triple game engagement upon release in 2023. Other notable mobile titles on Netflix include Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six SMOL and the upcoming releases Katana Zero, Braid Anniversary Edition, Paper Trail, and Monument Valley.
More than 90 games, including “Squid Game,” “Virgin River,” and “Rebel Moon” games based on Netflix-owned intellectual property, are in various stages of development as the streamer pursues its goals to enter the gaming industry, a path it first took in 2021.
“Hades” will offer “uncompromised gameplay for mobile,” according to Netflix, with features including offline play, cloud saves, achievements, new menus and interfaces, and 60 frames per second.
