Amazon is luring some customers with a $20 credit ahead of its annual Prime Day event, which this year takes place on April 16 and 17 in July. However, the online retailer said consumers must take certain steps by July 13 to receive the credit.
Prime members who save at least one photo using the Amazon Photos app by a certain date can redeem the $20 credit (more on that below).
Since Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015, it has used the event to promote its products, from the Kindle e-reader to the Fire TV, as well as services like music streaming. This year, the company is offering a $20 credit to get users to try out the Amazon Photos app, a service that offers unlimited storage and 5GB of video. The extra cost for video storage is about $12 per month.
Revenue from services such as Amazon’s cloud computing platform now far exceeds revenue from product sales. The company also faces increasing competition for consumers’ wallets as lower-cost companies such as Temu and Shein enter the U.S. market.
Who is eligible for the $20 credit?
This offer is valid for Amazon Prime members who upload at least one photo for the first time in the Amazon Photos app. Non-Prime members or those who already use the Photos app are not eligible to receive the coupon.
Amazon also said that consumers with a Prime trial membership are not eligible for the $20. Some people can take advantage of the 30-day trial to take advantage of Prime Day before becoming a member.
How will you receive the credit?
You must upload at least one photo through the Amazon Photos app by 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on July 12.
When will Amazon make the $20 credit available?
Amazon announced that it will send an email confirming that the $20 credit has been applied to customer accounts within four days of uploading a photo. This means that if you upload a photo on July 12th, you can receive the credit until July 16th, when Prime Day begins.
Are there any limitations on using the $20 credit?
The $20 credit can only be used to purchase products from Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services. This means that the credit cannot be used to purchase items sold by third-party sellers or other divisions of Amazon, even if the items are Prime eligible or fulfilled by Amazon.
According to Amazon, you also need to purchase at least $30 worth of items to receive the $20 credit. Taxes, shipping and handling fees, and gift wrapping are not included in the $30 minimum purchase, the company added.
Does the $20 credit have an expiration date?
Yes, Amazon announced that the credit will expire at 11:59 PM Pacific Time on July 17, the last day of the Prime Day event.
