Historic Achievement: Messi Wins 45th Trophy to Become Most Decorated Player

With Argentina’s victory over Colombia in the Copa America, Lionel Messi became the most decorated player in football history, overtaking former teammate Dani Alves to win 45 trophies throughout his illustrious career.

Argentina beat Colombia 1-0 in the Copa America final, with substitute Lautaro Martinez scoring in extra time.

Messi left the pitch in the second half with an injury, leaving the field visibly shaken, but then despair turned to joy when Martinez scored to give Argentina another trophy after winning the 2022 World Cup.

Messi’s 45 trophies with club and country include a World Cup win, two Copa Americas, four Champions League titles and 10 La Liga titles with Barcelona.

He won 15 domestic trophies with the Catalan club, as well as three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups.

He won Ligue 1 twice and the Trophée des Champions with PSG before moving to Inter Miami, where he won the League Cup.

He also won the 2005 U-17 World Cup, the 2008 Olympics and the UEFA Champions Cup with Argentina.

This list could get even longer as Messi has the chance to win more with Inter Miami and Argentina.
