Google doodle celebrates the Schultüte tradition in Germany

This Doodle honors the German tradition known as Schultüte, in which children get big cones filled with treats and school materials on their first day of school. With their colorful Schultütes in hand and a smile on their faces, cheerful kids from all over Germany eagerly await the beginning of the next chapter in their lives.

The earliest known reports of Schultüte originated in early 19th-century cities such as Jena, Thuringia, and Saxony. These cornucopia-shaped gifts quickly sprouted across the country!

Kids frequently discover presents like their favorite sweets, vibrant crayons and pencils, entertaining toys and gifts, and more inside Schultütes. Every Schultüte is created by parents with their kids’ interests in mind. The cones are not only a welcome surprise for these future students, but they also symbolize a significant life milestone – the transition from kindergarten to first grade!

Make Einschulung a memorable event!
