The Icy First Look at “Frozen 3,” Which Will Release in 2027

It’s almost time to build a snowman…for the third time.

Disney’s Frozen 3 is set to hit theaters in 2027 and aims to answer some of those unanswered questions.

Disney’s Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee concluded the Disney Animation announcement by revealing a visual development of the musical Frozen 3. It was created by Brittney Lee and shows Elsa on a white horse and Anna riding a brown deer.

Lee wrote and co-directed with Chris Buck the Oscar-winning Frozen, as well as Frozen II, which is set in the fictional kingdom of Arendelle and features the voices of Kristen Bell as Anna and Idina Menzel as Elsa. Jonathan Groff stars as Kristoff and Josh Gad plays the intelligent snowman Olaf.

The first Frozen film was released in 2013 and was inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s classic fairy tale, ‘The Snow Queen’. It was an immediate hit, grossing $1.28 billion at the box office worldwide. At the time of its release, the film was the fifth highest grossing film of all time, and currently sits at 22nd.

Incredibly catchy songs from Frozen, including “Want to Build a Snowman?” and the Oscar-winning “Let It Go,” composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, have sold over 4.1 million copies and been streamed over 51 million times as of June 2016. The film also won an Oscar for Best Animated Film.

Frozen 2 was released in theaters in 2019 and surpassed the original with a worldwide box office gross of $1.45 billion. It is currently the 14th highest-grossing film worldwide, having previously peaked at number 10. The sequel expands the wintry world of Arendelle, introducing more magical elements, locations, and creatures.

In addition to the films, the Frozen universe has spawned television specials, short films, a Broadway musical, an ice-skating show, and more.
