Celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024: Know History, Theme, and Significance

A healthy life depends heavily on mental health, making it just as vital as physical health. As a result, October 10th has been declared as World Mental Health Day to raise awareness of mental health issues. The goals of this day are to promote mental wellness support, dispel misconceptions, and increase awareness.

For one to have healthy ideas, feelings, and behaviors in day-to-day living, one must be mentally well. Anxiety and depression are caused by a number of things, including trauma, stress, and societal pressure.

History of World Mental Health Day in 2024

Under the direction of Deputy Secretary General Richard Hunter, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) established World Mental Health Day in 1992. Twelve nations took part in the first observation of this on October 10. This day aims to raise awareness, lessen stigma around mental health, and mobilize support from all throughout the world.

This day, which has a different theme every year and involves more than 150 countries, is a significant event. Through promoting dialogue and advocating that mental health care should be considered a human right, this movement has benefited people all around the world.
