The Weeknd Announces ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ Album—Here’s When It’s Coming

The final song in The Weeknd’s musical trilogy, Hurry Up Tomorrow, will be available on January 24. The album will come after Dawn FM in 2022 and After Hours in 2020.

The musician will perform live for just one night on January 25 at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, to mark the event. The whole Rose Bowl floor will be occupied by The Weeknd’s stage.

He also offered a limited-edition vinyl version of the record on Wednesday, complete with a Frank Miller-designed cover and exclusive boxsets for pre-order.

The Weeknd held a live-streamed performance in São Paulo, Brazil, in September, which included the live premiere of a few new songs, before of the project’s arrival. Guest performances included Playboi Carti and Brazilian singer Anitta, who collaborated with the Weeknd on the appropriately named song “São Paulo.” Along with performing new songs including “Dancing in the Flames,” “Wake Me Up,” “Regular,” and “Runway,” The Weeknd also returned with two unreleased tracks from a March performance with Mike Dean.

Earlier that month, The Weeknd released a lengthy statement with scrolling big red text announcing the title of his new album. “Yesterday was fourteen years ago… We held our breath, falling into a shimmering sea in the after hours of the night… Attempted to cleanse the wounds with melodies and lights, a bulletproof bandage to shield what lies beneath,” read the post. “In a place where the seasons never changed, where time ceased to exist. But therein lays the problem. Today has felt like an endless spin, I keep distorting the truth, immune to the dizziness, numb to the nausea. What lies beneath — screams in silence.”

The singer added: “More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”

The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye), Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan will star in the movie of the same name, which will support the record. The film, which has not yet been given a release date, will be directed by Trey Edward Shults and will be distributed in theaters globally by Lionsgate, according to Deadline.
