Scotland Wins BKT World Men’s Curling Championship 2025 Final

In the gold medal match at the Temple Gardens Centre in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, Team Scotland defeated Team Switzerland 5–4 to win the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship 2025 championship.

This was a close game the entire time. Switzerland’s fourth player, Benoit Schwarz-Van Berkel, struck out a Scottish stone to score two points and give his team a 3-2 lead as the teams approached the sixth end, with Scotland ahead 2-1.

Scotland skipper Bruce Mouat scored two points and took the lead again at 4-3 with a soft tap-up in the next end.

Until Switzerland’s Schwarz-Van Berkel drew his last stone into position to score one point and level the match at 4-4 in the eighth end, Scotland held this lead.

Scotland’s Mouat then blanked the ninth end before scoring the one point that earned his side a 5-4 victory and the world title in the tenth end with a draw-shot into an open house.

“We’ve had some really high highs this week, and some lows, but this is definitely the highest of the highs,” skipper Mouat stated following the victory, which was the Scots’ second title; they had not won since 2023.

“Yesterday, we had to come out and play against two really tough teams and then today we came down the last with a four-foot draw, so you couldn’t ask for much more.”

He added, “My team is unbelievable, they’ve all made some great shots. This is incredible. To experience another world championship in Canada is incredible and to win it, is just the cherry on top. I’m just so proud.”

Silver medal skip Yannick Schwaller expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We felt at ease on the ice today, and I’m really pleased with our team’s performance. I hope we can secure the top spot next time.”
