In 2001, the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization designated June 1 as World Milk Day. The purpose of the day is to recognise milk as a global food and to honour the dairy sector. Since then, the day has been celebrated with activities and campaigns promoting the health benefits of milk and dairy products, with a particular focus on the dairy industry’s role in feeding more than a billion people throughout the world.
Most of us use milk in some form as a basic dietary requirement. A glass of milk, a scoop of ice cream, or a smoothie are all examples of how important milk is in our life. With so many options, ranging from cow milk to vegan options, we may be unsure whether milk is the healthiest option.
Here’s a list of the healthiest milk varieties to include in your diet:
1) Milk from a cow-
This is the most common type of milk, and it’s a fantastic source of high-quality protein. It contains calcium, vitamins A, B, and D, as well as a variety of minerals. It is, however, a frequent allergy, and many people have difficulty digesting cow’s milk.
2) Milk grade A2-
A1 beta-casein and A2 beta-casein, two types of casein, make up the majority of the protein in cow’s milk. When A1 is digested, a peptide known as beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7) is produced, which might cause lactose intolerance. A2 milk does not contain this type of casein, making it easier to digest.
3) Milk made from coconut-
Coconut milk is made by squeezing the moistened white flesh of the coconut. This non-dairy milk has a distinct flavour and is a good non-dairy milk option. This is an option for those who are allergic to tree nut milk.
4) Milk made from almonds-
Unsweetened almond milk contains fewer calories and carbohydrates than cow’s milk. It’s a fantastic low-carb choice. It also contains a lot of vitamin E, which is an antioxidant.
5) Milk made from hemp-
It’s prepared from soaked, ground hemp seeds that don’t contain the psychoactive ingredient found in Cannabis sativa. It’s high in protein and omega-3 and omega-6 unsaturated fats, which are both good for you.
