Guinness World Record holder Donald Gorske has further solidified his status as the person who has eaten the most Big Mac burgers in his life. Throughout 2023, the 70-year-old consumed an additional 728 of his Big Macs, bringing his total to a whopping 34,128 Big Macs.
Guinness World Records states that Mr. Gorske’s Big Mac journey started on May 17, 1972, which is about 52 years ago. He declared, “I am probably going to eat these for the rest of my life,” after looking about his first Big Mac experience. He counted every burger from that day on, keeping the cartons in his car and starting counting from the first.
Mr. Gorske, a former correctional officer in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, kept decades-old containers and receipts. Despite the widespread attention his efforts received, Goske achieved his first world record in 1999. Initially, he was eating nine hamburgers a day, but then he reduced his intake to two, eating one for lunch and one for dinner.
Goske visited McDonald’s every day to buy freshly made burgers, the records research group said. But since retiring, he buys in bulk twice a week, enjoying one immediately and saving the rest for later consumption.
Surprisingly, Mr. Goske’s eating habits mainly revolve around his daily consumption of Big Macs. If you’re hungry, refuel with chips, fruit bars, and ice cream.
He tried Burger King’s Whopper in his 1984, but he stuck adamantly to his beloved Big Mac, declaring, “When I like something, I stick with it all the time.”
Remarkably, Mr. Gorske’s love for Big Macs even contributed to his proposal of marriage to Mary, which took place in a parking lot. Thanking her for putting up with his eccentricities, Mr. Gorske said, “She has put up with a lot of obsessive-compulsive things I do and hasn’t let my Big Mac thing get to her.”
Most surprising is Goske’s claim that he has never had any health problems despite eating more than 34,000 hamburgers. To stay healthy, he avoids fries as a side to his burgers and takes six-mile walks every day.
