NASA is entering the streaming conflict with a courage that no other space agency has shown before.
NASA is ready to launch NASA+, its new free, ad-free platform for iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV, starting on Wednesday (Nov. 8). NASA previously unveiled a completely new website earlier this year.
For inquisitive fans who want to remain up to date on the latest educational and entertaining offerings spanning the entire spectrum of space science, NASA+ will be the go-to source. It will offer news and feature stories suitable for a family audience, live event coverage recognised with an Emmy, special panels, exclusive interviews, and original video series.
“Our vision is to inspire humanity through a unified, world-class NASA web experience,” stated Jeff Seaton, NASA’s chief information officer. “NASA’s legacy footprint presents an opportunity to dramatically improve the user experience for the public we serve. Modernizing our main websites from a technology standpoint and streamlining how the public engages with our content online are critical first steps in making our agency’s information more accessible, discoverable, and secure.”
A preview of several of NASA+’s future launch titles, such as “The Traveller,” “NASA Explorers,” and “Other Worlds,” may be found in the clips below.
Earthbound people will also have free access to an abundance of limitless NASA content, such as NASA Television, a feature on Solar System Exploration, a database of over 21,000 images, weekly podcasts, mission updates, sighting and tracking opportunities for the International Space Station, and Third Rock Radio.
In addition to these recently enhanced digital services, NASA has completely redesigned its official mobile app. Users can now access information on past and present missions, climate data, research, discoveries, and 3D augmented reality models of over 30 NASA orbiters and important missions.
“We’re putting space on demand and at your fingertips with NASA’s new streaming platform,” added Marc Etkind, associate administrator at NASA. “Transforming our digital presence will help us better tell the stories of how NASA explores the unknown in air and space, inspires through discovery, and innovates for the benefit of humanity.”
The NASA App for iOS and Android mobile and tablet devices, streaming media players like Roku, Apple TV, and Fire TV, and the internet for the majority of desktop and mobile devices will all provide access to NASA+ on all major platforms.
