Anyma will make history as the first electronic music act to perform at the Sphere. The dance musician announced Monday that he will perform two Genesis albums at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Dec. 31 in an Afterlife-produced show called “The End of Genesis.”
Anyma, Matteo Mireli’s artistic project, has performed his Genesys and Genesys II projects around the country, including at Coachella earlier this year. For the New Year’s Eve show, he will be performing a visually-inspired redesign of the Sphere’s set. (It’s also the venue’s first New Year’s Eve event.)
Anyma announced his appearance Monday with a 3-D video that showed giant robots breaking out of the venue’s LED displays.
“I’m honored to be the first electronic artist to play the Sphere,” Anyma says in a statement. “We’re already months into the development of the show and I can’t wait to unveil to everyone what we have planned. It’s only fitting to end my ‘GENESYS’ era and make history at one of the most iconic venues in the world on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas.”
Fans can purchase tickets for the New Year’s Eve show starting July 23 at 9 a.m. (PST), but you can register for the presale starting July 22 at 9 a.m. (PST). Anyma plans to announce a special guest for the show later this year.
The performance announcement comes months after Anyma released Genesis II, which featured collaborations with Parisi, Iverson, and Grimes. They accompanied two remixes of “Welcome to the Opera.”
Anyma’s performance comes in the middle of the Eagles’ live in concert programme, which begins in September. 20. (The group added more residency dates on Monday.) Dead & Company will play several more Dead Forever shows at the venue this summer, with shows running through August 10. Phish and U2 were the first two acts to play residencies at the venue.
