Apple TV+ has released the first photos of his highly anticipated sci-fi series ‘Murderbot’, a leading role by Alexander Skarsgård (successor, Big Little Lies) and executive, as an executive. The 10-episode series will premiere on May 16th, 2025. The first two episodes dropping on the first day, followed by new episodes every Friday until July 11.
Created, written, and directed by Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Mozart in the Jungle), Murderbot is based on Martha Wells’ bestselling book series, The Murderbot Diaries. The story follows a self-hacking security construct who despises human emotions yet finds itself inexplicably drawn to protecting its fragile human clients. Forced to hide its growing sense of independence, Murderbot (Skarsgård) must complete a perilous mission—all while longing for nothing more than binge-watching futuristic soap operas and figuring out its place in the universe.

The Weitz brothers not only wrote and directed the series but also serve as executive producers under their Depth of Field production banner, alongside Andrew Miano. Additionally, David S. Goyer and Keith Levine executive produce for Phantom Four, with Martha Wells herself on board as a consulting producer.
