Bryson DeChambeau will make international history in his first tournament of the year

No other reigning major winner has started their season in the same way as current U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau:

India.

DeChambeau has officially committed to the International Series India presented by DLF. One week prior to the start of LIV Golf’s 2025 season in Saudi Arabia, the first round gets underway on January 30.

DeChambeau’s visit is a historic event because no major champion has ever played in India the year following their victory. He is now one of the most well-known golfers in the world, if not the most so, thanks to his victory at Pinehurst No. 2 and his rapidly growing YouTube following. DeChambeau’s passion to spread the game throughout the world appears from his tour and performance in India. It also demonstrates the game’s ongoing growth in India.

Since 2015, the Hero Indian Open has been a part of the DP World Tour program. This event has since been won by Marcel Siem, Matt Wallace, and Anirban Lahiri.

Since no major champion has ever played in India the year after their victory, DeChambeau’s visit is historic. His victory at Pinehurst No. 2 and his quickly expanding YouTube following have made him one of the most famous golfers in the world, if not the most. DeChambeau’s travel and performance in India demonstrate his desire to promote the game globally. It also shows how popular the game is in India.

The Hero Indian Open has been a part of the DP World Tour schedule since 2015. Since then, Anirban Lahiri, Marcel Siem, and Matt Wallace have won this event.

Regarding the International Series, the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also supports LIV Golf, has provided significant financial support, helping this group of ten events gain importance in recent years. The Middle East and Asia are home to these high-level events, with 2025 stops planned in Macau, Hong Kong, and Morocco. By the conclusion of the year, the Asian Tour player who wins the International Series gets a direct ticket to the LIV Golf circuit the following year.
