Burger King Announces Nationwide $1 Whopper for a Limited Time

Beginning today, Burger King is selling its iconic Whopper burger for just $1.

Members of the Burger King Royal Perks loyalty program are eligible to get the meal as a reward for participating in the fast-food chain’s “Million Dollar Whopper Contest” earlier this year, in which fans shared their personalized ideal Whopper sandwich.

Burger King is giving out one million original Whopper sandwiches for just $1, while supplies last, as a way to thank its customers.

The Whopper was originally served in 1957 and consists of a flame-grilled beef patty on a toasted sesame seed bun with tomatoes, lettuce, and white onions. It is topped with pickles, ketchup, and mayonnaise. There are 670 calories in a traditional sandwich.

“We couldn’t think of any better way to recognize and celebrate our biggest Whopper lovers than with a special offer that lets everyone feel like a winner,” said Pat O’Toole, Chief Marketing Officer, Burger King North America in a Nov. 11 news release. “We can’t wait to hear how Guests think these three new creations stack up to the classic and look forward to them ultimately crowning the winner of the $1 million grand prize.”

Burger King claims that the $1 Whopper sandwich will be available to Royal Perks loyalty program members via the “offers” button in the BK App as of November 12.

Customers are only allowed to purchase one $1 Whopper per person, and the offer is only valid while supplies last. Burger King suggests going to their website to find your closest Burger King location or to sign up for Royal Perks.

On November 14, the new Whoppers will go on sale. To help choose the final contest winner, fans can vote for their favorite sandwich by scanning a QR code on the wrapper.
