CBS will be releasing nine popular series updates, including hit sitcom Ghosts, which has been renewed for two years between 2026 and 2027, which has held its power package strong. The network also returns to Tracker, Fire Country, NCIS, NCIS: Origins, NCIS: Sydney, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Elsbeth, and Hollywood Squares for a new season.
These returning series will join CBS’ growing 2025-2026 slate, which already includes previously renewed shows like Matlock, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and FBI. Additionally, CBS is introducing exciting new series such as the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, the Blue Bloods spinoff Boston Blue, and a fresh singing competition called The Road.
Ratings Powerhouses Continue to Dominate
CBS continues to deliver hit after hit, with its top-performing shows pulling in millions of viewers across platforms:
- Tracker, now renewed for its third season, remains the most-watched scripted series on broadcast television, averaging a massive 18 million viewers across platforms.
- Fire Country, heading into its fourth season, attracts an impressive 10.6 million viewers.
- NCIS, still going strong in its 23rd season, continues to be a staple, averaging 10.4 million viewers, while spinoffs NCIS: Origins (9.2 million viewers) and NCIS: Sydney (7 million viewers) are solidifying their place in the franchise.
- The Young Sheldon spinoff, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, has proven to be an instant hit, drawing in 12.9 million viewers ahead of its second-season renewal.
- Elsbeth, the Good Wife spinoff, is renewed for a third season, averaging 11 million viewers.
- Hollywood Squares, CBS’ revival of the classic game show, is coming back for a second season after a promising debut.
CBS Strengthens Its Drama Lineup & Expands Franchises
In addition to renewing established hits, CBS is expanding its franchise universe. The network has officially greenlit the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, starring Morena Baccarin, as well as Boston Blue, a Blue Bloods spinoff featuring Donnie Wahlberg.
CBS’ long-running procedural FBI was already renewed through 2026-2027, but there’s still no word on whether its spinoffs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, will return. Additionally, the fate of The Equalizer and the Sherlock Holmes-inspired drama Watson remains uncertain.
CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach expressed confidence in the network’s lineup, saying:
“These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites. In collaboration with our extraordinarily talented partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to delivering another successful season.”
CBS’ Ratings Growth Proves Viewers Keep Coming Back
CBS is seeing continued audience growth across its slate:
- Tracker is up 4% year-over-year, with 18 million multi-platform viewers.
- Elsbeth has gained 3% in its audience, now reaching 11 million viewers.
- Fire Country has skyrocketed in streaming, up 43% year-over-year, averaging 10.6 million viewers.
- NCIS has grown 3%, maintaining its powerhouse status with 10.4 million viewers.
- NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney continue to build strong followings, drawing 9.2 million and 7 million viewers, respectively.
