According to report, the Phoenix Suns and free agency wing Damion Lee have reached an agreement on a one-year contract.
The deal would be the Suns’ first of the offseason following the start of NBA free agency on Thursday at 3 p.m. Arizona time.
Aaron Holiday, a former Suns backup guard, is thought to have signed a one-year contract with the Atlanta Hawks, so Lee appears to be Holiday’s replacement.
The combination of Lee’s agility and his ability to shoot well gives him the versatility to defend both the guard and the wing positions.
On his way to earning his first Larry O’Brien Trophy with the Golden State Warriors over the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals in June, Lee, who turns 30 in October, played a supporting role for the Golden State Warriors throughout the 2021–22 season.
The guard, who is 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, played 19.9 minutes per game and averaged 7.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist, and 0.6 steals.
In 63 games, Lee also had field goal percentages of 44.1 %, three-point percentages of 33.7 %, and free throw percentages of 88 % (five starts).
The five-year pro’s stats since joining the Hawks in 2018 after going undrafted out of Louisville in 2016 are 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.7 steals in 21.0 minutes per game on average.
Lee is shooting 43.4 % from the floor, 35.7 percent from three, and 86.8 percent from the charity stripe in 216 regular-season games (53 starts) in his NBA career.
Lee played in his first playoff game this past postseason, and despite playing with the Warriors from 2018 to 22, he contributed with 2.0 points and 1.6 rebounds over 7.8 minutes per game in 16 games.
Lee is also wed to Sydel Curry-Lee, the younger sister of Warriors star Stephen Curry and Brooklyn Nets guard Seth Curry, and the child of former NBA player Dell Curry.
