Frozen 3 will hit theaters in time for Thanksgiving 2027.
Disney has added the third installment of the Arendelle-set animated adventure to its film release calendar for November 24, 2027. The first two Frozen films also hit theaters around Thanksgiving and became back-to-back billion-dollar blockbusters.
The studio has also added Pixar’s new film Hoppers to its theatrical release schedule for March 6, 2026. Jon Hamm and Bobby Moynihan star in Hoppers, a body-swap comedy about a girl who uses technology to understand the minds of animals.
The original Frozen was a huge sensation in 2013, grossing nearly $1.3 billion worldwide and winning many awards, including two Oscars. The 2019 sequel was even more commercially successful, grossing $1.45 billion and until recently considered the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The film, which follows the adventures of royal sisters Anna and Elsa (voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel), inevitably spawned popular songs such as “Let It Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” as well as a Broadway musical.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced in 2023 that the studio was already working on a fourth Frozen film. Veteran songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez will return to write new songs for the two sequel films.
“‘Frozen 3’ is in the works, and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too,” he said last year. “But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.”
