Dr. Tre Pennie, U.S. Congressional Candidate (TX-30), Releases Immigration Policy

DALLAS, TX, October 6, 2020, ZEXPRWIRE – Dr. Tre Pennie, U.S. Candidate for Texas Congressional District 30 announces his immigration policy to address longstanding conflicts and to protect the interests of legal immigrants, asylum seekers, border patrol workers, and immigrant veterans.

Issues:

Uphold Illegal-entry Provisions: Uphold provisions outlined in 8 U.S.C. 1325 to discourage unlawful entry into the United States. Violators may face criminal and civil penalties.

Border Patrol Support: Ensure that law enforcement is properly equipped with the necessary tools and resources to protect our borders against illegal drug, human and child sex-trafficking.

E-Verify: Support the E-Verify system; which requires certain employers to verify immigration status for employment. This process will prevent employers from exploiting illegal immigrants for lower wages and protects the rights of legal immigrants on visas seeking employment.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA): Strongly support providing DACA recipients with a legal pathway to citizenship without the fear of retribution or deportation.

Expediting Legal Status: Many legal immigrants on visas have been forced to wait years for determination because of court backlogs. These delays place an unfair burden on immigrant families. To streamline the process, there should be a division of labor in the courts to respectively handle – DACA, Asylum, Residency and Illegal Entry cases and courts should reduce complex filing redundancies that create gridlock in the system.

Privatization: The privatization of the U.S. immigration “pre-check” system will make immigration processing more efficient. This will reduce government backlog and will facilitate more expedient efforts in the determination of immigration status.

Asylum-seeking Immigrants: A legal advocate must immediately be provided to an applicant seeking asylum in the U.S. based on fear of violence to ensure their safety and protection. Any child victim and/or victim of sex-trafficking must be granted priority over all other requests.

Merit-based Immigration: America should at all times consider her interests when granting immigration status. Legal immigration status is a privilege and not a right; therefore, it should not be taken for granted or abused. In all cases, America should promote merit-based immigration to help bolster diversity, economic stability and global competitiveness.

Citizenship for Veterans: As a fundamental promise for service to our nation, immigrants that serve honorably in the U.S. Armed Forces should be granted “automatic” citizenship. This process should be initiated no less that 90-days before the applicant terminates military service.

Immigrant Rights: All immigrants seeking legal status in the U.S. have a right to be treated fairly. There must be greater legal accountability for attorneys that misrepresent their practice, misfile documents and/or overcharge applicants for filing for immigration status.

Nearly all Americans have ancestors who braved the oceans-liberty-loving risk takers in search of an ideal-the largest voluntary migrations in recorded history. Across the Pacific, across the Atlantic, they came from every point on the compass-many passing beneath the Statue of Liberty-with fear and vision, with sorrow and adventure, fleeing tyranny or terror, seeking haven, and all seeking hope…Immigration is not just a link to America’s past; it’s also a bridge to America’s future.” – President George H.W. Bush
