True to his motto, Eminem has a surprise in store for you this Friday the 13th. The rapper announced that he will be releasing the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of his latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), later this week, teasing it in a trailer posted on X (formerly Twitter Project).
In the clip announcing the new release, Em enters a supermarket and grabs a carton of milk from the refrigerator. But then he drops it on the floor, revealing a missing advertisement featuring his alter-ego Slim Shady on the side of the box. As he leaves the store, producer Alchemist pops out from behind the counter and tells him to never come back.
It’s unclear what will be on the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of the album, but it will likely feature new tracks produced by Alchemist. The rapper originally released The Death of Slim Shady in July, along with the singles “Houdini,” “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and Babytron, and “Somebody Save Me” featuring Jelly Roll.
The Death of Slim Shady was presented as a concept album marking the end of a chapter for Slim Shady, unleashing his lewd and vulgar alter ego from his cage for one last hurrah. Shady has been a consistent figure in Eminem’s music from the beginning, with his more lewd content being attributed to his evil counterpart.
Eminem performed around the world around the album’s release, playing shows in London, Detroit and Los Angeles. He is scheduled to open the MTV Video Music Awards tomorrow night.
