Eminem has stated that “Houdini,” the first single from his next album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),” will be available this Friday, just under a month after it was first announced.
In an Instagram post, the rapper and FaceTime magician David Blaine asked for “help with something.” “I was wondering, how far can we go with this magic? Like, can we do like a stunt or something?” Em asked Blaine, who then took a sip of wine and bit the rim off the glass. “Well for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear,” Em said, ending the conversation.
Little is known about Eminem’s 12th studio album, but he has said it will be released this summer. “Houdini” is said to be the first album, and a short instrumental clip can be heard at the end of the Instagram clip.
While Em kept the details of “The Death of Slim Shady” secret, his longtime collaborator and mentor Doc Martin leaked some details earlier this year. In March, Dre appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and revealed that Eminem was working on a new album. He also revealed that he is on some of the songs on the project and that the first listen to the album was scheduled for the day after his TV appearance.
In April, Em announced “The Death of Slim Shady” along with a preview of his crime series “Detroit Murders,” which aired during the NFL Draft. Earlier this month, he said goodbye to his longtime alter-ego, Slim Shady, with a fake obituary published in the Detroit Free Press.
