Florida NCAA Tournament

The competition among the premier teams in the SEC and the leading positions in our NCAA men’s tournament bracket appears poised to persist until Selection Sunday.

Florida has reclaimed a No. 1 seed following their victory on the road against Alabama, while Tennessee has slipped to the No. 2 line due to their defeat against Mississippi. Over the past three weeks, the Gators, Volunteers, and Crimson Tide have all held the No. 1 position at various times.

With two consecutive losses and four defeats in their last six games, Alabama faces the most challenging path to regaining a No. 1 seed. The Crimson Tide will conclude their regular season with a matchup against Auburn, while Florida will compete against the Rebels, and Tennessee will host South Carolina.

Auburn, Houston, and Duke are firmly established as top seeds. Additionally, Michigan State could emerge as a No. 1 seed if they secure victory in the Big Ten tournament.

The most probable candidate for the fourth top seed is expected to emerge from the SEC, rendering the forthcoming conference tournament a critical contest to determine which team secures the prestigious No. 1 position.

In our current bracket, two SEC teams have experienced a decline. Mississippi State has fallen to a No. 8 seed following a home defeat against Texas, while Vanderbilt has dropped to the No. 9 seed after losing to Arkansas.

The victory in Starkville allows the Longhorns to re-enter the tournament field as a No. 12 seed in a play-in game against Xavier. This development replaces Indiana, thereby increasing the SEC’s representation to 13 teams in the tournament.
