Happy Independence Day, Azerbaijan!
The present Doodle observes Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, otherwise called State Sovereignty Day or as Istiqlaliyyət günü in local Azerbaijani.
On this day 30 years prior, the sacred demonstration named, “On the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan” was supported by the local government. This legislation prepared for the official affirmation of independence soon thereafter, when a nationwide referendum officially established the Republic of Azerbaijan with the help of 95% of the voting population!
Turkey became the first nation to perceive Azerbaijani freedom, with the two countries sharing ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Only months after the fact, the recently sovereign country on the shore of the Caspian ocean turned into an individual from the United Nations and took on its national anthem, coat of arms, and the blue, red, and green striped national flag, which is portrayed in the Doodle work of art. The present perception starts with the raising of the Azerbaijani banner as citizens reflect their country’s way to freedom.
One more historical note from 1918 to 1920, Azerbaijan previously turned into an autonomous nation as the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR)— the first, effective democratic republic in the Turkic and Muslim universes.
