The diversity of the natural landscapes and geographical places that Canadians call home are portrayed in today’s doodle in honor of Canada Day. With a size of more than nine million square kilometres, Canada is the second-largest country in the world. Its territory extends from the highest point in the world, Mount Logan in the Yukon, to the easternmost point, Cape Spear in Newfoundland, and all points in between.
As depicted in the artwork, Canada is filled with natural treasures including the Great Lakes, wide Prairies, sprawling evergreen forests, frigid, stark tundra, 41 national parks, and much more. It is also home to cascading waterfalls and majestic western mountains.
It is important to recognize that the country of Canada is located on traditional Indigenous lands. The sceneries in this Doodle have been taken care of by Inuit, First Nations, and Métis people for many years and they continue to strengthen this area. Please read the 94 Calls to Action created by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada for further information on what Canadians may do to assist reconciliation efforts.
On Canada Day, people in Canada take some time to consider the country’s past and the potential that lay ahead.
