Google doodle celebrates s’mores, the delectable nostalgic fireside snack

Let’s get together around the campfire to find out more about everyone’s preferred outdoor treat! The delicious, nostalgic fireside snack known as s’mores is the subject of today’s handcrafted Doodle. This day in 1925 saw the introduction of “some-mores” as a new cuisine at Camp Andree, the national Girl Scout camp, according to an article titled Patrol Leaders Have Outing.

To make s’mores, place a marshmallow on one end of a stick and roast it over a fire. Once it’s cooked to your liking, split a graham cracker in half, add chocolate, and crush the marshmallow in the middle to make a sandwich. Fun fact: S’mores first appeared in a cookbook in the 1920s, where they were called “graham cracker sandwiches.” The candy became popular among Girl Scouts, who named the treat “some mores,” which eventually became s’mores.

Traditional s’mores consist of just three ingredients, but some people have gotten creative and refined the recipe with caramel, jam, peanut butter, or cookies. However you prepare them, enjoy s’mores as you say goodbye to summer.
