Google doodle celebrates the Bahrain’s National Day

Bahrain’s National Day is honored in today’s yearly Doodle! Bahrain celebrates the late Emir Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, who came to power on this day in 1961, even though the country officially became independent on August 15, 1971.

He was a well-liked king who played a crucial role in guiding his nation toward independence following years of British domination. He introduced a number of economic changes throughout his 38-year rule, which contributed to Bahrain’s reputation as “the pearl of the Gulf.”

The spirit of National Day permeates Bahrain, even though the biggest celebrations are held in the capital, Manama. The country comes alive with festivities, including vibrant street markets, laser shows, and parades. Like in today’s artwork, streets and buildings are decked out with lights, flowers, and the red-and-white national flag. Bahrainis also celebrate the occasion with a variety of cultural events, such as musical performances like Fjiri, which honors the country’s pearling heritage, and exhibitions of art and language.

Happy National Day, Bahrain!
