Google doodle celebrates the Canada Day

Today’s Doodle celebrates Canada Day, a day to celebrate all things Canadian: our stunning landscapes, diversity, culture, and of course, our wildlife. Did you know that polar bears, Canada geese, and moose all have an important place in the history of Canadian currency and have been featured on $2 coins, $5 notes, and commemorative coins over the years?

Canada Day celebrations take place across the country, from colorful parades and community barbecues to spectacular fireworks displays and live music. Towns and villages come alive with red and white decorations as many Canadians proudly fly their national colors, sing O Canada, and celebrate the place they call home.

Today is a day to celebrate for Canadians, but it is also a day to reflect on our country’s past, present, and future. This includes reflecting on the work that needs to be done to advance reconciliation with the Inuit, First Nations, and Métis peoples who have lived on this land for generations. These rich stories, traditions and contributions are deeply woven into the core fabric of our communities. By celebrating the achievements and resilience of Indigenous peoples, we can foster a more inclusive future for all.

Happy Canada Day 2024!
