Google doodle celebrates the Philippine Independence Day

Today’s Doodle celebrates Philippine Independence Day. On this day in 1898, the country declared independence, bringing an end to more than 300 years of Spanish rule.

Celebrations begin with a 21-gun salute in the capital, Manila, followed by speeches from government officials before the singing of the national anthem. Like Today’s Graffiti, Philippine flags adorn homes and buildings throughout the day. The tricolor flag features a golden sun and three stars, representing the country’s three major territories: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Happy Philippine Independence Day!!
