Ranbir Kapoor (born 28 September 1982) is an Indian actor and film producer.
He has appeared in Forbes India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2012 and is one of the highest-paid actors in Hindi film.
Six Filmfare Awards are among the several honours Kapoor has received. The grandson of actor-director Raj Kapoor and son of stars Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Kapoor studied method acting and filmmaking at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.
He then worked with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the movie Black (2005) before making his acting debut in the critically and financially unsuccessful 2007 film Saawariya, a sad love story.
With his roles in the drama Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, the romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, and the coming-of-age movie Wake Up Sid, Kapoor gained notoriety in 2009.
His political drama Raajneeti (2010) received the maximum viewers during this time. Kapoor won two consecutive Best Actor awards at Filmfare for his roles in the romantic drama Rockstar (2011), in which he played a tortured musician, and the comedy-drama Barfi! (2012), in which he played a cheerful deaf-and-mute man.
He became a well-known Bollywood actor after playing opposite Deepika Padukone in the 2013 romantic comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
Apart from the 2016 romantic drama Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the films he appeared in after this did not do well at the box office.
This changed in 2018 when Kapoor took on the role of Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic Sanju, which went on to become one of the most successful Indian films of all time and earned him another Filmfare Award for Best Actor. In addition to performing in films, Kapoor is a philanthropist.
He also has ownership in Mumbai City FC of the Indian Super League.
