Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” is returned for its 29th season on Monday, Feb. 12, with Jon Stewart airing his first episode as the show’s new Monday night host.
As with previous seasons, new episodes air Monday through Thursday at 11pm on Comedy Central. CST, new episodes will be available the next day on Paramount+. The best way for cord cutters to stream “The Daily Show” live online is through various live TV streamers like DirecTV and Sling TV. Both offer free trials. Comedy Central is also available to stream on Hulu + Live TV and Fubo TV.
After months of searching for a new host, Paramount Global Network announced it has hired Stewart, who led the popular era of late night mainstream, to host its Monday night show during the 2024 election cycle. He will take on a supervisory role at the daily, which could extend into 2025, and is scheduled to begin on-air duties on February 12. Various “Daily Show” correspondents will host the show Tuesday through Thursday nights, and current executive producer Jen Frantz will continue her duties on the show.
Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement, “Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season.” “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”
