After suffering her first loss in more than a decade to American superstar Katie Ledisi in the women’s 800m freestyle earlier this year, Canadian swimming sensation Summer McIntosh has announced that she will be competing in the 2024 Canadian Olympic Swimming Championships. He returned to the pool to assert his authority.
Although she won’t be swimming the 800m freestyle at her national championships, she still plans to compete in seven different events as she continues her dominating path to Paris.
She will swim 1 event on each test day from Monday, May 13th until Sunday, May 19th.
McIntosh will compete in the 100 meter freestyle, 200 meter freestyle, 400 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, 200 meter butterfly, 200 meter individual medley and 400 meter individual medley.
With a time of 4:25.87, she holds the current world record in the 400-meter individual medley, having set it at the Canadian team trials in 2023. Although double Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus recaptured her 400-meter freestyle world record at the following world championships with a time of 3:55.38, she actually broke two world records at the most recent team trials.
Following her record-breaking performance at the Team Trials, Summer McIntosh is aiming to join her international rivals ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
