This is the 29th year of the annual awards programme, which is one of the few events to honour both film and television, and is decided upon by the Critics’ Choice Association (CCA). Chelsea Handler is back to host this year’s ceremony, which will be broadcast live from the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport.

2024 Critics’ Choice Awards: Host, Nominees
Barbie, the live-action film, is the front-runner this year with an unprecedented eighteen nominations, which includes Best Picture and acting nominations for Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and America Ferrera. The “SeeHer Award,” which “honours a woman who advocates for gender equality, portrays characters with authenticity, defies stereotypes, and pushes boundaries,” will also be given to Ferrera.
Killers of the Flower Moon came in second with 12 nominations, followed by Golden Globe winner Oppenheimer and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, each with 13. The Career Achievement Award will go to Harrison Ford in the interim.
Regarding television, The Morning Show is the front-runner with six nominations, including Best Drama Series and acting nominations for Nicole Beharie, Karen Pittman, Billy Crudup, and Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. The Bear, Abbott Elementary, and Beef are among the shows with four nominations each, while Succession has five nominations for Critics Choice.
