The PGA Players Championship, widely considered one of the most unpredictable and anticipated golf events of the season, is finally here. The PGA Premier Tour begins Thursday, March 14th at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
The Players Championship March 14-17 will be broadcast on Golf Channel and NBC, but cord cutters can watch the event online on ESPN+, Peacock, and live TV streamers like DirecTV Stream, Sling TV, and Fubo TV streams You can watch it live.
ESPN+ expands coverage of the streamer’s All Access plan, offering exclusive early coverage and special group coverage of each day of The Players Championship starting March 14 at 7:30 a.m. ET.
Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Windham Clark and Hideki Matsuyama are among those competing for the $25 million prize, as is defending champion Scottie Scheffler, who won by five strokes last year. Scheffler heads into the tournament as the clear favorite to win, but no one has ever won the Players Championship back-to-back, so if he can defend his title, the world No. 1 will go down in history.
It will be interesting to see how players like Jake Knapp, Nick Dunlap, and Matthieu Pavon, who have all already won tournaments this season, perform this week even though all eyes will be on these high-profile featured groups. This season has been mostly defined by underdogs winning championships.
