Stay tuned for Inside Out 2, as it is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time worldwide.
The Pixar Animation Studios film puts audiences inside the mind of teenage Riley as she deals with a whole range of new emotions, and it has grossed $1.46 billion worldwide, making Frozen II the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
“Inside Out 2 is a quintessentially Pixar film, and it’s been amazing to see how it has connected so deeply with people all over the world,” Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman, Disney Entertainment, said. “We knew it was really special, but no one could have predicted it would reach these record-breaking heights. We’re grateful to all the fans who have made this the biggest animated film ever.”
Inside Out 2 now tops the list of The Walt Disney Company’s most successful animated films. In fact, seven of the 10 highest-grossing animated films of all time were produced by Pixar or Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Inside Out 2 is also the 13th highest-grossing film worldwide, having just surpassed the $600 million mark domestically.
Starring voice actors Amy Poehler and Maya Hawke, the film has been a remarkable success at the box office this summer. Inside Out 2 has had a record-breaking box office run, with a huge second weekend and surpassing the $1 billion mark in just 19 days since its release, the fastest in the history of animated films.
It is the highest-grossing film of 2024 to date and the only film to cross the $1 billion mark.
Inside Out 2 has also been a huge success among critics. The film is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, has a CinemaScore of “A”, and a 96% Rotten Tomatoes audience rating.
But the success of Inside Out 2 will not be determined by box office receipts alone.
In addition to promoting cultural events, The Walt Disney Company creates popular and enduring franchises thanks to the company’s extensive media brands. For example, in 2015 the original film grossed $859 million and won an Oscar for Best Animated Film, and the Inside Out brand has become one of Pixar’s most iconic titles. The franchise has since expanded to include short films, merchandise, and attractions.
