Things to Know
Since December 2015, the Jaguars have lost both of their games to the Saints, but they will get an opportunity to narrow the gap a little bit on Thursday. At 8:15 p.m. ET, the Jacksonville Jaguars will depart for Caesars Superdome to take on the New Orleans Saints. The Jaguars will be looking to extend their four-game streak of scoring their opponents in each game.
Last Sunday, Jacksonville conceded the first points, but they didn’t allow that get to them. They easily defeated the Colts by a margin of points, winning the game 37-20. By the third quarter, Jacksonville had increased the score to 31-6, a deficit that Indianapolis managed to narrow but could never quite overcome.
The Jaguars were led to victory by a number of players, but none more so than Travis Etienne Jr., who carried for 55 yards and two scores. Another important player was Trevor Lawrence, who threw for 181 yards and two touchdowns.
Before the game was over, the Jaguars didn’t spare the quarterback, intercepting three passes. The Jaguars’ defence recorded a variety of interceptions.
Last Sunday’s game may have had a point differential in favour of New Orleans, but the outcome did not. The Texans defeated them 20-13, adding a loss to their record. On the day, New Orleans gained 133 more yards, but Houston used those yards most effectively.
Rashid Shaheed gained 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Derek Carr passed for 353 yards and a touchdown, respectively. These achievements shouldn’t be eclipsed by the Saints’ defeat.
The Saints were superior in the air and finished with 357 passing yards despite losing. The Texans only passed for 199 yards, thus they easily outperformed their rivals in that area.
Jacksonville’s victory increased their record to 4-2 while New Orleans’ defeat decreased it to 3-3.
The Jaguars are aiming to upset the odds on Thursday because most people believe they will lose. Given that they’ve disappointed bettors the past three times they’ve played, this game might not be the best opportunity to wager on them against the spread.
