Jets’ Davante Adams Makes History as NFL 12th Player to Reach with 100th Career TD Catch

To a historic degree, Davante Adams reignited his extraordinary bond with Aaron Rodgers, at least for one more Sunday.

In the third quarter of the New York Jets’ 32–25 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Adams connected with Rodgers for the historic 100th touchdown reception of his career.

After Anders Carlson’s extra point, Rodgers hit Adams on a goal-line fade from the 1-yard line, a play that has been common during their time together and put the Jets ahead 17–16.

“It was good to be able to get in there,” Adams said of the TD. “My teammates were gassing me up all week about it. I think they were probably more excited about it than I was, which is obviously a great thing.”

Adams had an incredible afternoon, and that was only the beginning. In the second half of Gang Green’s back-and-forth game in Duval, the Jets receiver finished with nine receptions for 198 yards and two game-winning scores.

Adams is the second player this season to reach the 100-TD mark, although he is only the 12th player in NFL history to do so, after Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did so in Week 7.

Adams momentarily tied Evans with 101 career score receptions after passing Hall of Famers Steve Largent and Tim Brown. However, the Buccaneers star reached pay dirt twice to claim ninth place all-time, while Adams is comfortably in 10th place after his incredible Sunday.

Adams’ ascent isn’t the only one; he has now caught 81 touchdowns from Rodgers (including playoffs), surpassing the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown for fourth place in league history.

Naturally, the majority of those touchdown passes occurred during their time with the Green Bay Packers.

Since Adams was traded from the Las Vegas Raiders, the two have generated five touchdowns together, but they are now in a different shade of green.

For at least one week, the 31-year-old Adams and the 41-year-old Rodgers offered some highlights and history, despite the fact that their Jets season has fallen well short of expectations.
