Google celebrated Juntree Siriboonrod ‘s 106th Birthday celebration with a doodle On 31 March 2023. He is known as the “father of Thai science fiction,” according to some.
Juntree Siriboonrod was born in Thailand on March 31, 1917. It is unknown how old he was when he was young.
He started working for the Thai government as a civil servant in the Department of Ministry Fuels. After becoming a high school science teacher, Siriboonrod began writing science-related articles and stories.
The Thai science magazine Witthayasat Mahatsachan was produced in 1945 by Siriboonrod and the Science Society of Thailand. He resigned from his position as a science fiction and scientist biographer in 1959. He published Phu Dap Duang Athit, or “The Man Who Put Out the Sun,” a collection of fantastical science-fiction short stories that is still highly regarded throughout Thailand to this day.
He died on March 13, 1968.
The Juntree Siriboonrod Award was established in his honor in 2005 by the Science Writers and Publishers Forum and the Science Society of Thailand. The award remembers Siriboonrod’s literary impact and recognizes accomplishments in Thai science fiction.
