Krispy Kreme Celebrates World Chocolate Day with Return of Rare Doughnut

Summer is a season full of holidays, but one of the tastiest is World Chocolate Day, which falls on Sunday, July 7. To celebrate this sweet occasion, Krispy Kreme is bringing back its most popular and unusual doughnut offering. The brand recently announced that the Chocolate Glazed doughnut will be returning to Krispy Kreme this Saturday and Sunday in honor of World Chocolate Day. The brand said this is the only year the Chocolate Glazed doughnut will be offered.

Chocolate Glazed was first introduced by Krispy Kreme in 2017 to celebrate that year’s total solar eclipse and quickly became popular. It was then offered across six continents for World Chocolate Day in 2018, but has rarely returned since, making this weekend a chance for fans of the popular product to get their hands on the treat.

“There’s nothing like our Chocolate Glazed doughnut, it’s a rare and special treat,” Dave Skena, Global Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme said. “From watching the chocolate glaze waterfall to the aroma of chocolate taking over shops to the taste of our fresh doughnuts bathed in chocolate glaze — there’s no better way to celebrate World Chocolate Day.”

Fans who want to get their hands on the Chocolate Glazed can simply visit participating Krispy Kreme locations across the U.S. on Saturday and Sunday. The treat will be available for purchase in-store or for pickup or delivery through the Krispy Kreme app or website. In addition to the short-term return of the Chocolate Glazed doughnut, Krispy Kreme is offering doughnut fans 50% off one dozen Chocolate Glazed doughnuts when they buy one dozen Chocolate Glazed doughnuts at regular price.

The return of the Chocolate Glazed doughnut is Krispy Kreme’s latest special product. Earlier this year, the brand collaborated with Dolly Parton to launch a limited-edition doughnut collection, the Dolly Parton Southern Sweets Collection. The collection included four new doughnuts, including “something sweet for everyone.” Krispy Kreme also previously collaborated with Pokémon in South Korea for an adorable Krispy Kreme x Pokémon collaboration that featured doughnuts resembling the popular Pokémon.

The Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts will be available exclusively at participating Krispy Kreme locations in the U.S. on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7.
