Summer is just around the corner, and Kroger wants to celebrate by giving away some free cold, sweet treats.
To celebrate the summer solstice on Thursday, June 20, the longest sunshine day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, Kroger is giving away 50 free pints of Kroger brand ice cream every minute. That’s a total of 900 minutes of sunlight and 45,000 free pints of ice cream, the company said in a statement.
The offer is valid on any pint of Kroger brand ice cream, including Mint Chocolate Chip, Vivid Vanilla and Kroger Brand Deluxe Tie-Dye Burst flavors.

When is the Summer Solstice?
This year the Summer Solstice is on Thursday, June 20th and marks the first day of astronomical summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It is also the day with the longest hours of daylight of the year, after which the hours of daylight decrease and decrease until the Winter Solstice on December 20th. 21.
In the Southern Hemisphere, it’s the exact opposite: June 20 marks the beginning of winter season and the summer solstice occurs on December 21.
