It’s now even easier to make your business stand out on LinkedIn, thanks to a new verification tool on the platform.
In an effort to reduce spoofs and imposters, the business-focused employment site has announced that it is introducing a new feature that allows businesses to show that their LinkedIn page is an official representation of them.
Users that utilize the new Verification for Company Pages service will be able to display a verified shield-shaped tick badge next to their logo on their page, indicating that this is an official company page.
LinkedIn Verification for Company Pages
“We know that authenticity is key to creating meaningful interactions,” a LinkedIn blog post announcing the launch noted. “A verification badge on a LinkedIn Page helps signal to members and customers that this is an official Page for the organization, and in turn, helps the organization build trust with its audience.”
Verification badges will start to show up on the pages of a select few lucky businesses in the coming weeks after they were pre-approved. Administrators can submit a request and sign up for a waitlist if they would like their pages to be verified in the future.
LinkedIn does clarify that waitlists will be evaluated “periodically” and that there is no assurance that a request will be accepted; yet, it does state that it plans to increase the number of verified badges that are available in the upcoming months.
According to the firm, “multiple factors” will be taken into account when deciding whether or not an organization’s profile is authentic enough to be verified. This includes adhering to specific LinkedIn standards, maintaining an active page admin presence, and the accuracy of “certain data point” on the page, such as location and website URL.
