Depending on your hometown, upbringing, and location, when you think of South-Eastern America you probably automatically visualize people of a more country nature. The stereotypical assumption would lead us to see more cow pastures, red necks, and trees than city lights, busy streets, and gang violence.
In the small town of Chattanooga, Tennessee one could only assume the latter to be the case. However, speculation couldn’t be more wrong. In fact just a brief web search of Chattanooga, Tennessee reveals an extremely different reality.
While all cities have their beauty and attractions to offer any tourists looking for an escape from the humdrum “same old same old” there are always certain places in each of our cherished hometowns we know to avoid. Despite any speculative opinions, Chattanooga is no different.
One search of the city turned up results ranging from gang violence, to high crime rates, and even a national ranking as one of the most dangerous places to live in the United States. Hailing from one of those aforementioned locations is Matt Movin’. A breath of fresh air to the world of Hip-Hop.
With a sound as unique as his story, Matt Movin’ is making a major impact that I personally don’t see going anywhere anytime soon. I came across this young man on YouTube while listening to another artist. (I’ll avoid name dropping) Matt Movin’ “All Pressure no let-up” was recommended as a similar artist, and my interest was peaked (originally) simply because I had never heard of the 28-year-old rapper, singer, and songwriter. From the moment I clicked play, I was captivated for the next three minutes and twenty-eight seconds as I watched a diamond-clad, messy-haired, talented young man pour his heart out in a tale of what I personally consider to be perseverance. Hence, the title “ All Pressure no let-up “ I won’t ruin it for anyone but the video is definitely worth checking out, as well as the project “ Basic Instincts “ which I also came across after watching the video a second or third time. This kid is more than talent! He is a spider’s silk smoothly and tactfully forming a perfect web that it’s all too easy to get caught in.
