The company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, made the announcement today that Meta Verified will now be available on Instagram and Facebook in the United States. Meta Verified is a subscription service that allows users to add the coveted blue check mark to their Instagram and Facebook accounts for a monthly fee. It first went live last month in Australia and New Zealand. On the web, Meta Verified costs $11.99 per month, while on mobile, it costs $14.99 per month.
In the Meta Channel on Instagram on Friday, Zuckerberg stated, “Meta Verified is rolling out in the US today.” You can gain direct access to customer support, a badge, and proactive impersonation protection.
Starting today, you can sign up for the subscription service online by joining the waitlist. You will need to be at least 18 years old, and you will have to pay the monthly fee as well. Before you can get a Meta Verified subscription, you have to finish the verification process and show a government-issued photo ID to prove your identity. Additionally, two-factor authentication is required. Meta Confirmed endorsers will not have the option to change their profile name, photograph, username or date of birth except if they’re willing to finish the confirmation interaction once more.
In addition to 100 Stars per month on Facebook, Meta Verified comes with exclusive stickers for Facebook, Instagram Stories, and Facebook Reels so that you can show your support for other creators.
In an email to TechCrunch, Meta stated that its initial tests in Australia and New Zealand had produced “good results” and that it was considering some of the initial feedback from subscribers. In context, a subscription to Meta Verified in Australia and New Zealand includes enhanced search visibility, comments, and recommendations. Meta plans to investigate the offering further before considering expanding it outside of Australia and New Zealand in light of user feedback that deemed it to be confusing.
With the new Meta Verified product, Zuckerberg is copying Elon Musk’s strategy. After the Tesla Chief obtained Twitter the previous fall, the informal organization appeared paid confirmation for $8 each month through its patched up Blue membership administration. However, unlike Twitter’s strategy, Instagram and Facebook users who have already been verified will not have to pay for their verification. However, Musk has not yet implemented his promise to eliminate legacy verification badges.
Due to the fact that it was previously restricted to public figures such as politicians, actors, musicians, athletes, and journalists, the blue checkmark has become a highly sought-after symbol on social media platforms. Musk has opposed this idea and argued that everyone should be able to use blue checkmarks.
Even though Meta hasn’t charged for most of its services since it started, it’s obvious that things are changing. Notably, Snap launched its own subscription service last year, converting 2.5 million users into paid customers. Meta and Twitter are not the only businesses to offer subscription services.
You must go to your Instagram or Facebook settings and click “Accounts Center” to begin using Meta Verified. Under your name and profile picture, you will see “Meta Verified available” if the subscription service is available for your account. The verification process must be completed after you select your preferred payment method for your monthly plan.
