As the harvest moon ascends into the early autumn night sky, thousands look into the sky above—which must mean a certain something—it’s the ideal opportunity for the Mid Autumn Festival! The present Doodle celebrates this annual holiday, otherwise called the Moon Festival.
The surprisingly bright moonlight from the harvest moon with in tandem the occasionally fresh pre-winter air gives the best feeling to families to celebrate and feast! As parents peel pomelos, a huge cousin to the grapefruit, kids take the skins and repurpose them for goofy hats.
No Moon Festival is finished without a generous serving of mooncakes, round treats that represent the moon and are generally loaded down with egg yolk, mung beans, and yams. These old-fashioned mooncakes aren’t the holiday’s just symbolic sweet treat—from chocolate-filled mooncakes to other non-traditional variations, this staple dessert serves to help celebrants to reunion as they honor their familial ties.
Happy Mid Autumn Festival!
