Miley Cyrus Releases Sultry New Song ‘End of the World’

Miley Cyrus has released her new track, “End of the World,” supported with a sultry music video, continuing the push for her upcoming album, “Something Beautiful.”

Before a close-up shows her writhing on the ground in a green sequined outfit, Cyrus is seen dancing hazily in front of the band. Through a gauzy filter, she sings, “Let’s pretend it’s not the end of the world.” The song also mentions traveling down to Malibu for a final time and partying like Paul McCartney. She sings, “Show me how you’d hold me if tomorrow wasn’t coming for sure.”

In March, Cyrus revealed her forthcoming visual album titled “Something Beautiful,” which is set to launch on May 30. This marks her ninth studio album, featuring 13 original tracks, and is co-executive produced by Cyrus and Shawn Everett, known for his work with Alabama Shakes and Kacey Musgraves. While details about the album remain sparse, Cyrus has mentioned that it draws inspiration from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”

“My vision was to create ‘The Wall,’ but with a more stylish wardrobe, infused with glamour and pop culture,” she shared with Harper’s Bazaar in November, characterizing the album as “hypnotizing and glamorous.” She described it as a concept album aimed at providing a remedy for a somewhat troubled culture through music.

Shortly after the announcement of “Something Beautiful,” she released the first two tracks: the spoken-word piece “Prelude” and the title track that blends rock and soul. The latter was accompanied by a visually striking music video, co-directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter, with cinematography by Benoît Debie.

Additionally, the album will be paired with a film scheduled for release in June. This project is produced by Cyrus, XYZ Films, and Panos Cosmatos, in partnership with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation. Cyrus will be directing alongside Bixenman and Walter.
