Amazon seems to be treating Mr. & Mrs. Smith well so far.
Launching on February 2, the eight-episode series quickly rose to the top of Prime Video’s ratings in over 130 countries. Regarding total viewers in the United States, it is currently among the top five new series launches on Amazon ever.
Like most other companies, Amazon doesn’t provide exact viewership data. Via Nielsen’s streaming charts, more numbers will probably be available next month.
Notably, since Nielsen measures U.S. viewership, Amazon is emphasizing U.S. viewership. In the past, the streamer has frequently chosen to increase viewership internationally, which is far more difficult to quantify without receiving proprietary data from the business.
It’s predicted that the series would appear on those charts as a result, particularly since all eight episodes were released simultaneously, giving it an advantage in terms of viewing duration during those initial weeks (Nielsen reports viewing in total minutes).
Now hitched, John and Jane face a new marital milestone each week in addition to facing a relationship milestone. When they start to have real feelings for one another, their convoluted cover story gets even more complicated. Which is riskier, marriage or espionage?
Alexander Skarsgård, Sharon Horgan, Ron Perlman, Billy Campbell, Úrsula Corberó, Paul Dano, Michaela Coel, John Turturro, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura are among the guest cast members.
Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane conceived the series. In addition, Francesca Sloane runs the show. Mr. & Mrs. Smith is a co-production between New Regency and Amazon MGM Studios. Yariv Milchan of New Regency is executive producing the series, which is a remake of the 2005 movie.
